Domino pendants
I've been making some domino pendants over the last couple of days. The normal domino dots on one side, and then on the blank side my own painted designs. Right now I'm testing out what varnish to use, then I'll have to find out whether I can solder the jump rings on or not.
This is how they are looking so far, and in time they'll be the first things for sale in my online shop.
Jewellery photography
Not much illustration going on recently, but I've been progressing with my jewellery photography. Really quite proud of these two and I think they're just cause for a new camera. (I've taken these on a six year old point and shoot compact Casio!)
Studio Painting!
I've started my first painting in the studio.
Oh boy does it feel good to be working like this again. It's really quite exciting for me :D
Acorn Records
My local independent record shop asked me to draw up an image of the shop to put up on their new website.
Studio
This is my new studio.
It's kinda big.
I have no idea how long it's going to be mine, it's dependent on a few external factors.
So I need to make the most of it while it lasts!
Time for all those projects to get done.
Oh and 'MONO SHIP' is the coolest anagram of '20 MIN PHOTOS' i could figure out. Albeit with a few letters missing...
Two new designs
This is a sticker design for the band Rat Attack, they requested it had a direct influence from Roy Lichtenstein.
And this is a Tshirt design for Crazy Arm, they requested a wild looking horse.
A poster for sale
Specialist Subject Records, who have a really great selection of punk rock records, are selling a print of my Crazy Arm/Bangers poster. It's nicely screenprinted on fat A2 card.
Buy it HERE.

Toy Sale poster & Vincent
First up, here's a poster I've done for a Toy Sale happening near me. Being an illustrator means close friends and family sometimes ask me to design for free out of the goodness of my own heart. This is a great opportunity to give a trial run on new stuff I've been toying with, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This poster is a good example of when it does work!
Secondly, I've been playing around with a character who I've called Vincent. He's long, he's gangly, he's got a crazy quiff and almost no chin. With this next evolution I've concentrated on his facial features, I rather like his expression -
Bedroom
Today I bought a book. I is called 'Maps'. It's drawn by Nigel Peake. He is amazing.
So with more than a little nod to him, I drew this.
Thing-a-day 2010!
Same as last year, I made something everyday for the whole of Feb. A 'creative sprint', as thing-a-day.com calls it.
Here's some of the best ones:
Mouse Path
This is fascinating. Basically THIS application tracks where your mouse travels over your screen for as long as you have it turned on. The black dots are where the cursor hovers for a period of time (the larger the dot the longer the cursor hovered).
The image below is my 'mouse path' for the last hour or so. In that time I worked in photoshop, uploaded some stuff to flickr and looked for a font on various websites. You can tell the photoshop areas as the path kinda gives a ghost impression of it (the layers selector in the bottom right, the tools along the left hand side etc.)
Katy Lied promo single 2
The next single from Katy Lied - Piece By Piece. It's a deviation from the work that I did for the album and the first single, we're progressing things now. I loved drawing this one a hell of a lot, and I really like how it's turned out. It's just a pity about the amount of text I had to put on!
Sketches and drawings
Been clearing up and clearing out. Amongst a council tax bill from 7 years ago, some UCAS forms from when I was applying to university and a letter from my work experience placement which I did in my mid teens I found some sketches. These are a little more recent though, from the last 12 months. If I'd found drawings that were older I'm not so sure I'd be showing them!
All random drawings from sketch books and random scraps of paper
New site!
Yes as you may have noticed, the site has a whole new look. Nicer, cleaner and long overdue. Have a look through, there's some nice new bits here and there.
So, this is the first of my new years resolutions done, now onto the next.
Studio. It's gonna get sorted.
Paintin’
Did some painting over last weekend, a collaborative effort with a mate. We each did a background on a canvas, then swapped. Interesting results.
Here is a bad photo of our efforts.
Also ate a mille feuille. Nom nom.
(It wasn't so blurry when I ate it....)
A Christmas card, a list and a Katy Lied album
My website was down over Christmas so I have a few things to show/tell you.
Here's the seasonal card sent out for this year and its insert.
Each year I compile a list of the albums I liked the most form the previous 12 months. Either I have too much time on my hands or have been severely bitten by this modern trend of lists. Probably both. Anyway, to make it relevant to my life and perhaps vaguely interesting to anybody else, this year I drew my own versions of each of the album covers. Look closely, some are better than others. Oh and the turquoise in this is Pantone's colour of 2010. Woo.

(Left to right: Zu - Carboniferous, Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport, Handsome Furs - Face Control, Health - Get Color, Doomriders - Darkness Come Alive, Tim Hecker - An Imaginary Country, The Maccabees - Wall Of Arms, The xx - XX, Tubelord - Our First American Friends, Our Time Down Here - Live. Love. Let Go.)
Finally I went to see Dylan Moran and so found myself near an HMV, which located in civilisation therefore stocked the Katy Lied album. Look at my joy in finding it....

Photography wasn't allowed during the gig but I sneaked a photo. Not only did an usher see me and tell me off, but the photo was crap. Editing was needed.

Here endeth a sort of epic end of year post. Comment or something, show me somebody reads this....
